After months of quarantine, you’re probably binged all your usual TV shows, cooked all your favourite meals and spent more time staring aimlessly at your phone than you’d care to admit to. To break up seemingly endless monotonous days, here are 15 fun things to do when you’re bored.
1. WATCH LIVESTREAMS OF BIRD FEEDERS ON YOUTUBE SO YOU FEELS LIKE YOU’RE OUTSIDE
Weeks of being cooped up in your house may be making you long for the times you could actually step outside and frolic in the park. To observe nature in the Great Indoors, fire up Youtube and watch livestreams of birds gathering for a quick munch at feeders around the world. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology operates feedercams at its headquarters in New York, a backyard in Ontario and a rainforest in Panama. Also, there are quick a few amateur birders that have hooked up GoPros to their feeders and are sharing it with the world online.
2. WATCH THE MOST POPULAR MOVIE FROM THE YEAR YOU WERE BORN
Babies are adorable, but they don’t exactly watch movies. Take a trip down memory lane and check out the world of cinema from the year you were born. I bet there are some classics you haven’t yet watched – and just might enjoy. (Hint: The movie from my year of birth I plan to watch is Purple Rain).
3. PLAN OUT YOUR DREAM TRIP
Nothing will make you want to travel than being told that you can’t and since you can’t hop on a plane or drive to a new place, why not just plan for a time when you can? 7. EXPERIMENT WITH BAKING CHEMISTRY
Baking can be a great stress-reliver but it’s also an easy opportunity to conduct chemistry experiments you can eat. You can sub out different ingredients to see the effect they have on your baked goods. For example, baking soda, which is basic, needs an acid to react with. It’s basically a slow-motion version of a science fair volcano that helps your cookies rise. Adding brown sugar to your recipe will lead to a puffier cookie, while white sugar will give you a flatter, more spread-out end product. So try it out and improve those skills.
