I love my home and, as I’m sure you can tell by now, I also love interior design and improving the spaces where I live, work etc. I spend a bit of time browsing the internet getting ideas on how to beautify spaces because I’m a firm believer in living one’s life in a constant state of gratitude and brightening the corner where you are.
If you’re anything like that, then here are some useful tips to help you decide how to beautify the spaces in which you live.
Get a Colourful Sofa
Sometimes a home needs character and that is what colour and texture provides. Using colourful and/or artistic furniture can make a room pop with creativity.
Blankets and stoolsIf you live in a tropical country, you don’t need to use a blanket, a thin print cloth folded at the end of a bed or over the arm of a sofa would work just as well. I also find that using wooden stool also provides an interesting addition to any room, especially living rooms, bedrooms and offices.
Patterned tiles
You can turn your bathroom or kitchen wall into a wonderfully creative space by using a patterned tiles to make a statement. It’ll take the room out of the realm of ordinary into extraordinary just through the use of tiles alone.
Featured Lighting
We all know about chandeliers but there are more ways to use lighting to make your room ‘pop’. In my opinion, lighting is a key part when experiencing a space and one can really get creative with how one manipulates light to create an effect (for example, shining light through patterned light shades).
SymmetryI always strive for symmetry and balance in life – and I apply these principles to my interior design projects. Symmetry is the thing that gives the look of order to a space and instills feelings of calm. Aim for symmetry when you’re looking to give that instant feeling of calm (studies show that the human brain actually prefers symmetry).
