Lunar Eclipses, Salt Baths and the Power in Loving Oneself

… that has resulted in an increased flow of peaceful bliss. I cannot believe what I’m feeling. I want to burst out in playful laughter half the time. Life is good.

Good day. So, we’re just going to jump straight into the waters. I’m structuring this article somewhat differently, mostly because it came out in bits and pieces when I was planning and (attempting!) to structure it. After a while, I eventually said: “fuck it!” and decided to let it flow how it wants to and see how’s it’s received. Don’t worry, as usual, it won’t take too much of your time:)

First things first, November has been an exciting and busy month so far. This week particularly hosted some major events in my life: Full moon and voting on Tuesday and a lunar eclipse the very next day. I know many do not understand, nor follow, the lunar cycles, but I do.

I follow the lunar cycles because I’m a sensitive person. I’m particular sensitive to my environment and the energies contained within it. The moon exerts quite a strong force on the Earth and her inhabitants (whether you acknowledge this fact or not). I mean, it’s not rocket science. They teach us in school that the ocean tides are directly synced to the movement and gravitational pull of the moon and if the moon can affect a large body of water like an ocean, what do you think it’s doing to you?

Anyways, as I’m preparing for my usual Full Moon Ritual (refer to image on the right:), I realise that I’m out of Epson Salts (and it’s past 10pm, so no rushing to Publix lol). This isn’t a disaster, actually I learned that Baking Soda and Sea Salt work perfectly. In fact, I’m going to give you ladies a little tip. Forget Epson salts, use baking soda instead. My skin has never felt SO silky smooth. I exfoliated in the bath as well. I mean, I felt like Cleopatra after that bath. No joke.

Essentially, I filled my bath with hot water and then poured 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of ordinary sea salt (to be completely forthcoming, I used Kosher Salt because that’s all I have at home:). I think next time, I’ll add a few drops of lavender essential oil to the bath water to enhance the experience.

Anyways. In addition to enjoying the full moon and the eclipse, the universe has been sending me some really incredible experiences. If you read this blog, you would have come across a post published a few days ago about this incredible man I met. We spent two wonderful days together, walking through Piedmont Park (where we met). In hindsight, I think he was a soulmate, but not a romantic one (I feel absolutely nothing romantically, but I will not deny that he does feel like ‘home’). It was weird but nice. He’s left the state to go back to his home and I feel blessed to have had that experience.

Lesson: I think if you allow, the universe will send you exactly what/ who you need, exactly when you need it/them. Just always be prepared for when that blessing comes your way.

For me, as I mentioned in the original post about him, it really felt like he drew me out of myself in some strange way through our conversation and for some reason, I’m different after meeting him. I’m calmer, happier, and more content. I can focus on the things that make me happy and make my heart sing, whereas before, for some reason, I just couldn’t. For years, it feels like I’ve been living in this fog that has now cleared and for that, I’m grateful.

I have so much to give to this world and it feels amazing to finally be able to access that part of myself, for myself and for my community. I give thanks for that man’s life and I wish him well on the rest of his journey.

Swiftly moving on, the last part of the title of this post, “the power in loving oneself” is so simple that it requires a brief explanation – check the proposition… it gives it the meaning. “The power IN” refers to the value in the action of loving oneself; whereas “the power OF” places the value in the result. Listen, I’m not here to tell anyone which is better, but in my experience, the former resonates more.

I won’t extrapolate on this, because truly, it’s a personal thing. That being said, I did learn this week that it’s okay to love everyone unconditionally, which I do, but I know now that I am proudly at the very top of that list – and it’s a great place to be. In loving others unconditionally, I’m beginning to feel unconditional love (and from surprising places too:). I am excited, humbled, delighted and full of hope and faith for the future – and I wish that for everyone. I believe we all deserve it.

So yeah, that’s all I feel like I have to share today. It’s been a real flow and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope you have too.

Peace & Love always,
V.
