Medium: 7 Lessons That Will Guarantee a Better 2023

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson
  1. God/ The Universe will always make a way so long as you believe there is one to be made (even if you cannot see it at the moment).
  2. Nothing works if you don’t. This is not to encourage incessant working or packing your schedule to be busy. It is to simply be clear about what it is that you want and ensure every single decision you make takes you closer to that goal. No exceptions.
  3. Kindness will take you further than any other skill or emotion.
  4. It is better to have love and lost, than to never have loved at all. This one was pretty hard for me to learn personally. Every single time I’ve loved, it feels as though I have lost. The exception to this has been the love I have for myself, which seems to keep on growing in spite of everything (or perhaps, it’s because of everything…) Who knows? It took me 38 years to stop seeing myself through the eyes of others, and truly see and feel my value through my own eyes — after all, I know all my feelings, I know my thoughts, I know my words, and I know my actions. Show the world who you are, gracefully yet unapologetically.
  5. What is actually meant for you will never pass you by, and you can never keep something that isn’t yours.
  6. Learn to let go.
  7. Learn to trust but verify. Perception is very subjective and like beauty, lies in the eye of the beholder. A person’s understanding of various topics (and/or issues), of themselves, and of the world around them is limited by that person’s character, exposure, experience and values. Be aware of this when dealing with people, and when accepting advice from them too.

Happy New Year!
