When I was in college, I went through a dark night of the soul. To be quite honest, I was tired to pretending to be someone I wasn’t; and to be even more honest, I was tired of pretending that I cared.
The thing about group mentality that no one ever tells you is that it removes all sense of self. Yes. That thing that made you unique? Say goodbye to it because some random person determined it doesn’t serve the collective.
And you want to know the person you looked up to? Well, that person doesn’t have it figured out. In fact, their boyfriend is cheating on them and they paid random people to pass their essays. Still respect them? No? I didn’t think so.
But this is the world we live in…. a world where it doesn’t matter how much you learn, or how many skills you develop. You’re never enough for us. And why is that? Because we can’t do what you do.
So we’re going to put you in a place where you always have to come to us to receive your income. But don’t worry, you’re coming to right place because we look right. But what does it mean to “look right”?
I am a tarot reader (for friends and family) and I bought a new tarot deck today. I don’t buy new decks often because I like to bond energetically with my decks. But this deck had something to say, and it is this:
Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.
Here’s something that made my day:
Who am I?
I am filled with feeling
with life and breath
I am here to share
honor and love
I am the vivid colors of day
the black darkness
as night falls
I am the whispering wind
stirring the leaves
I am cool water
flowing through
I am the blood
rooted earth
I am fire
burning eternal
I am the glint of line
in a distant star
I am the answer
to the question
who am I?
