The Road Not Taken…

I’ve always loved the power of written word. I was born into a situation that most would tremble at the thought of, but despite being dealt a pretty shitty hand at the beginning of my life, I have been blessed with access to literature. It was the only form of escape I had from a very dark reality. I’m actually one of the few people that has read the bible cover to cover (don’t ask me to quote verse please LOL), but I find the documentation of life and the human experience fascinating, and it helped me make sense of what I was going through. The Human condition has never been easy, but it is rewarding when we take a step back to observe the ‘games’ we allow ourselves to engage in.

This Sunday, I want to share on of my favourite poems. I first came across it in English Lit class in High School and I always use it to help guide my decision-making since I am the curator of this life I own – and I’m going to fucking make it count! I hope it resonates with you as much as it did/ does with me.

The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

The took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Though it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in and wood, and I –
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Enjoy and be well!
