true that I’m a huge fan of Waffle House. Their coffee and breakfast selection – as well as the fact that they’re open 24/7 – just does it for me. I follow strange waking/ works hours, so Waffle House easily became a staple. However, if you’re looking for a breakfast spot that serves delicious, freshly made food with delightful Southern charm, then Thumbs Up Diner is the spot for you.

Frequented by locals (be prepared to see tables of local police officers fueling up at the beginning and end of their shifts), I personally love this place because of the staff. I go so often that every time I enter, I’m greeted by name with a huge smile and hug.

I usually have their pancake special, but their salmon scramble is worth trying out. It’s not only loaded with bite sized chucks of salmon, but it made with cream cheese, with adds a smoothness that the tiny chives cut through. But truly, everything I’ve tried from their menu has been spot on.

They have a few locations, but the one in West Midtown is my favorite.
