It’s often said that “life begins at 40” and even though I’ve heard this a number of times, it’s only after becoming 40 years old this September that I’ve come to realize what people actually mean when they say that.
Of course, life doesn’t literally begin at 40 – I mean, you can’t disregard the 39 years it took you to get to 40 years of age. The experiences, the lessons, the connections (romantic or otherwise), the memories…. The curated collection of life moments that brought you to this point.
That being said, there’s a switch that happens when you realize you’ve made it this far and will make it much further. There’s a contentment and an acceptance of the cards in your hand. The difference (from tackling life before 40) being you’re now playing with (hopefully!) wisdom, maturity and experience. This is what makes all the difference.
Lord knows I’ve experienced this, and this shift indeed has me navigating this life differently – producing new and invigorating results that are enriching my life in ways I’ve never experienced before. I’m firmly in the realm of the unknown, and thoroughly enjoying the ride.
Having reframed my thinking and approach to life has me experiencing new environments with new groups of people. Dare I liken this to ‘going with universal creator flow trusting that the experiences, lessons and people along that journey will not only add value to the journey but also prepare me for my destination’. In the same vein, I delight in submitting myself to that same energy flow to provide the same blessings for everyone doing that for me.
Building new connections from this renewed understanding about how I now engage with life has been very rewarding because, not only is it forcing me to reevaluate who I am (and how best to present that to others and the world in general), but it also has exposed me to people from walks of life that I wouldn’t have ordinarily had access to (and they wouldn’t have access to me). Life is for living; and it feels like I’m living at Level 100 at the moment.
Whatever the case and however the journey unfolds, I plan to keep you all posted as I continue to navigate this beautiful thing called Life with a pure intentions and an open heart.
Love and positive vibes always,
Victoria
